About Me

I am Oluniyi David Ajao, an African technology leader.

I have always loved tech - especially digital technology. I started Web4Africa back in 2002 that has since grown into a market leader in the domain/hosting industry. I sold the business in 2024. Under my leadership, Web4Africa became a top domain registrar in Africa, serving dozens of thousands of clients.

As of today, I am involved in businesses primarily in the cloud hosting and digital media verticals across the world and actively looking for new opportunities across Africa as a cloud hosting pioneer.

I live and work across South Africa, Brazil, and southern Europe.

From bootstrapping Web4Africa in 2002 to its 2024 acquisition by HOSTAFRICA, I share my 20+ year entrepreneurial journey in a Q&A inspired by a LinkedIn message. Answering 8 key questions, I cover challenges, scaling, and lessons for aspiring business owners. Watch now 📺

Goal

The goal of this personal web presence is to serve as a central point of the useful content I share online. I'm not new to creating online content. I started my first web magazine in 2004 as "Mobile Africa" (or mobileafrica.net) and this has since morphed into a tech portal known as "TECH dot AFRICA".

I ran a personal blog at davidajao.com from 2005 to 2015 which experienced some level of popularity in Ghana and Nigeria. The blog posts are now archived at tech.africa as well.

Ultimately, I hope to be able to educate and inspire the coming generation by sharing useful thoughts via various media like posts on X, videos, articles and the like.

I’m open to sharing my extensive knowledge and experience by writing for leading online publications, mentoring the serious-minded or speaking at conferences.
